FREE ADVICE TO GROW YOUR RETAIL BUSINESS

This article is under construction.

bullet

Try offering a useful free gift item for everyone who enters your store.  Simply drop the item into the shopping bag.  Novelty items work just fine and your customers will appreciate your caring about them.  Click this link to learn how free gifts generate goodwill and word of mouth referral business.

bullet

Always drop a sales or discount flyer offer into the shopping bag.  This is low cost advertising and helps to generate repeat sales.  Consider a coupon that offers a 10% discount on their next purchase.  You will be pleasantly surprised to see how much business that will create for you.

bullet

Advertising is expensive and fiercely competitive.  Don't forget to distribute handbill flyers door to door.  You can hire responsible kids to do the job, but make sure you obtain a legal release or contact a homeless shelter as sometimes they can get the job done too.  Anytime you can position your flyer/offer into consumers hands without the competition trying to beat or compete with you, you have won a strong marketing edge.  Direct mail is expensive today to be cost effective, but on certain big-ticket items it certainly will pay off handsomely.  Remember, the competing soap companies you see dominating the supermarket shelves today used the house-to-house free sample method in the 1950's and 1960's worked perfectly.  That includes toothpaste, mouthwash, etc.
